Veritas at Lampeter UMC

These pictures above are the worship stations that we set up at Lampeter United Methodist. Instead of worshipping yesterday morning with Hempfield COB, Veritas was asked to do an Experiential Worship gathering at Lampeter for their Worship XP Sunday School elective. It was an amazing time of worship, community, and showing people another way of approaching worship. The theme for the day at the church was on mission so we thought we would work on that theme in a little different way. And it seemed like that it was well received and more important God was glorified, people thought about mission in a new way (someone said that they used to think mission was just to another country and now realized that mission is something one does everywhere, including in their own neighborhood), and I pray they left there seeking to be the hands and feet of Christ in their neighborhood, community, county, state, country, and world.
I end with the question that we ask them yesterday. In John 1:14 (The Message) it says, "The Word became flesh and moved into the neighborhood." How are you and I moving into our neighborhood and blessing the world?

First Worship in the City of Lancaster

Just wanted to write a little about our experience at the Community Room on Prince Street last evening.

I got there at 3 PM to load in. My 4 Runner was loaded with stuff (sound, video, screen, candles, etc..). Because of circumstances I was the only one available to load in. The Community Room in on the 3rd Floor....so I loaded in for 1 hour. I was spent by the time I got everything up there. If I ever have to load all that by myself again...I am going to cancel the night. We are in the process of trying to decide what is essential and what isn't. I know we'll rearrange our sound gear, forgo the snake, maybe get a smaller screen, etc...

The space was amazing and felt like home. It is exactly the space that we feel that we should be in at this time.

Our theme for the night was CREATE. A friend came and painted for us. What we did was have everyone (children and adults) come up and put a mark, a line, or something on the canvas and then he went to work creating something out of our marks. It was an amazing process to watch and be a part of. I was blown away by it. I will attach some pictures when I get them from our photographer. (Thanks Dave)

As far as attendance was concerned....I don't know what I was looking for .... a magic bullet to growth. I probably put too much pressure on myself and on numbers...attendance was okay..we had 16 people...(6 regulars were missing...) but we also had a visitor who said that she'll be back.

Our children were in with us the whole night which was a great experience as we seek to value children and family worshipping together in community.

Our guitar player brought so much to the night and I am blown away by his talent and his desire to us it for worship and to help our little group out. (thanks Chris)

We will continue to meet there once a month and I pray that as we do it will steadily grow and seek to impact the community and the world.
